Llano River
Located on the property boundary, the Llano River is one of the most pristine in Texas. You’ll find 650 ft of river frontage on a deep and beautiful stretch that is great for swimming and fishing. The boundary is fenced on the east (left side if facing the water) and the other side ends at the large grove of sycamore trees at the first set of rapids. The best swimming is towards the east/left side, and you should see a clear place to enter. Please plan to hike down rather than drive due to road conditions.
Hiking
Enjoy hiking the paths anywhere on Shiloh Ranch’s 68 acres. At the river the gravel bar provides interesting nooks and crannies to explore, and up gradient you’ll find a pasture with hills above just beyond the cabin. The pasture is entirely fenced, so you can rest assured you aren’t trespassing on a neighbor’s property.
Mason
Visit Mason’s charming town square for eating and antique shopping. Favorite restaurants include Santos, Willow Creek Cafe, Square Plate (lunch only), Cooper’s BBQ, and Sandstone Cellars Wine Bar (in a historic house with a great porch). Just off the square, you can also visit the Seaquist House, a unique 19th century Hill Country Landmark.
Nearby
Other popular nearby destinations include the town of Fredericksburg, where you can enjoy great restaurants, wineries, and shopping, as well as the Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve (one of the largest bat nurseries in the country-check their website to see when the bats are active), and Enchanted Rock (requires advance reservations).
